Coach Holiday Travel Insurance


A Holiday Travel Insurance Scheme is available for all passengers travelling on our holidays which is arranged by Towergate Chapman Stevens underwritten by ERGO Travel Insurance Services Ltd (ETI)  on behalf of Great Lakes Insurance. Except for legal costs and expenses cover which is underwritten by DAS Legal Expenses insurance company. Great Lakes Insurance SE is a German insurance company with its headquarters in Koniginstrasse 107,80802 Munich. UK branch office : Plantation place 30 Fenchurch Street London EC3M 3AJ company number SE000083 and approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA – to undertake insurance business in the UK. This insurance policy will suit the Demands and Needs of an individual or group(where applicable) who have no excluded pre-existing medical conditions, are travelling in countries included within the policy terms and who wish to insure themselves against unforeseen events detailed in the cover section below. Subject to the terms, conditions and maximum specified sums insured.


We will not provide you with advice about the suitability of this product for your individual needs but will be happy to provide you with factual information. We summarise below the details of the insurance cover provided which also includes TOWERGATE ASSISTANCE. The following is a brief summary of the cover available. Full details of Cover, Policy Warranties and Exclusions will be forwarded with your confirmation of booking. In any event you may ask for a specimen copy of the Policy Wording before booking should you wish to examine this in advance.

For holidays up to 3-days in duration the Loss of Deposit, Cancellation and Holiday Abandonment excess is Nil. For holidays over 3-days in duration the Loss of Deposit excess is £10 each and every incident, whilst the Cancellation and Holiday Abandonment excess is £35 each and every incident. The Medical & Other Expenses, Personal Property and Personal Money excesses are £30 each and every incident.


If you or anyone else named on this policy has not been a resident in the UK for the past 6-months this policy cannot cover you.


If you are travelling to destinations detailed in your policy document which do not require you to inform the Insurer of any pre-exisiting medical conditions, then you must be able to comply with the following conditions to have full protection of your policy. If you do not comply we may refuse to deal with any relevant claim or reduce the amount of any relevant claim payment.:

  • 1. You are aware of any reason why the trip could be cancelled or cut short
  • 2. You are not travelling against the advise of a medical practitioner or for the purpose of medical treatment and have not been given a terminal prognosis.
  • 3. You are not receiving or awaiting treatment for any bodily injury, illness or disease as a hospital day case or in-patient.
  • 4. If you are on medication at the time of travel your medical condition is stable and well controlled.
  • 5. if you suffer from stress, anxiety, depression or any other mental or nervous disorder, it must have been investigated and diagnosed as such by either: a registered mental health professional if you are under the care of a community mental health team or a consultant specialising in the relevant field who has confirmed in writing (at your cost) that you are fit enough to take this trip.

Please note If you have answered Yes to any of these questions the policy will not cover claims as a result of the condition or conditions causing your Yes answer(s). You do however have the option to still take out this policy on the understanding that it will not cover these condition(s).

If you are travelling outside the United Kingdom then you will need to call Towergate on 0344 8921698 if you are taking prescribed medication, has a medical condition requiring periodic review, are awaiting any tests treatment or investigation or has had any medical condition (excluding childhood and minor ailments not including treatment) Towergate may, on behalf of the Insurer, offer to cover these for an additional premium. It is your responsibility to declare your pre-existing medical conditions when required. Failure to disclose may result in a claim being declined.

MAIN EXCLUSIONS Please see the 2020 brochure for what is not covered

In addition to the above the policy also contains the following main exclusions:

  • Any existing medical conditions unless they have been declared to (where appropriate) and accepted by the Insurer.
  • Your participation in any organised sports, winter sports or dangerous activities unless they have been declared to and accepted by the Insurer.
  • Suicide or the wilful exposure to exceptional personal risk.
  • Stress, anxiety or depression unless it has been diagnosed as such by aconsultant or expert in that field.
  • Travel against the advice of the carrier, any other public transport provider, the Foreign Office or the World Health Organisation.
  • Motorcycle travel during the insured trip where the engine size exceeds 125cc.
  • Any manual work or hazardous occupation undertaken during the insured trip.
  • The bankruptcy / liquidation of the tour operator, travel agent or transporation company with whome you have booked your trip.

Examples of these and other conditions and restrictions and what to do if you are unsure about any aspect of an exclusion are contained within your policy information. If after purchasing a policy should you find it does not meet your requirements you have 14 days from the date of issue, or prior to travel (whichever is sooner) to cancel the policy.

Please note that any claims relating to the COVID-19 coronavirus will not be covered under (a) any new policies purchased and (b) existing policies whose departure and return dates are amended / deferred on or after 17th March 2020.

Europe: Includes, Rep. of Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Isles, Scilly Isles, Commonwealth States and countrys bordering the mediterranean. Premiums shown are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the appropriate rate. As cover under the Cancellation section commences immediately once the holiday booking has been accepted, no refund in premium can be allowed (other than I4 day cooling off period).

GeeVee Travel is a company committed to customer satisfaction and consumer financial protection. We are therefore pleased to announce that ,at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with "the package Travel & package Tours regulations 1992 " all passengers booking with GeeVee Travel are fully insured for the initial deposit and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking form. The policy will also include repatriation if required arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to insolvency of GeeVee Travel.

This insurance has been arranged by Towergate Chapman Stevens Cover on behalf of Towergate Chapman Stevens through HCCI International Insurance. This policy will not cover any monies paid for travel insurance or any claim relating to air flights. Please ensure the company you have booked with have the appropriate CAA/ATOL Bonds in place.
